Starting with the patter of raindrops and arpeggios, "Aching (Save Me)" builds into a melancholy and euphoric soundscape. Lead singer Isaac chooses his words and phrasing wisely, leaving space for that magic feeling hugged by a soft reverb. The minimal, no-frills production perfectly beds the vocals. The feature of the velvet breath and silk vocal that is Alice Miles dresses the topline with majesty...
Somehow, the synths and delicately layered vocals ooze a creaminess. It's sweet, like a square of chocolate after a breakup, leaving you needing more...
"Cold shoulder, heartbroken, it's all a part of me. No matter, I love it, just hate it controls my sleep..."
We don't always know the meaning of a lyric, but as we open up to it - we come to know exactly what it means to us... This track seems to imply the unstoppable human feeling of something missing, a loss, something has changed and it's gonna take a while to feel normal again. But as a glimmer of light in the darkness, it speaks of loving to feel because it means we are alive!
The James Barton package keeps delivering, with much more to arrive! Nat the producer, Isaac the lyricist and frontman, and Wilf on guitar.
